How to use calculus charts
A calculus chart works best after the problem has been read carefully. First decide whether the expression calls for differentiation, antiderivatives, a definite integral, substitution, integration by parts, or another method. Then use the chart to choose the correct rule.
Keep the written work beside the chart
The chart should support the setup, not replace it. Students should still write the function, name the rule, show each derivative or integration step, and simplify only after the rule has been applied correctly.
